PROLOGUE

SCENE 1

FADE IN.

INT. 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE. FRONT SEATS - EVENING.

TITLE OVER: OREPO, SEPTEMBER 1, 2011

MARK AUDU, 32, is behind the wheel. SYLVESTER ANI, 33, is on the passenger seat. They are returning from an errand.

The ringtone from Sylvester's mobile phone breaks the long silence between them. He fetches the phone from his jacket breast pocket, checks the caller ID and picks it.

SYLVESTER

Hello Chief.

VOICE

(Over the phone)

Where are you guys?

SYLVESTER

On our way back.

VOICE

(Over the phone)

Were you given the money?

SYLVESTER

Yes Chief.

VOICE

(Over the phone)

How much?

SYLVESTER

Everything, Chief.

VOICE

(Over the phone)

How much is everything, Sly?

SYLVESTER

Fifty Million Naira.

VOICE

(Over the phone)

Good. You know what to do?

The phone goes dead. Sylvester returns the phone in his breast pocket.

MARK

Chief?

SYLVESTER

Yea.

MARK

Hmm. He must be worried it took so long. You didn't tell him his business partners delayed us?

A short silence pervades the atmosphere again.

SYLVESTER

You like what you do?

MARK

Driving?

(Snorts)

What can I say?! You know I'm a graduate. If I'd gotten a better job offer, I won't have been driving Chief or anybody around. Though Chief has been a very nice man. So I could say: yes I enjoy what am doing. But, if I had an opportunity - I'm sorry chief - I'll leave this job and take it.

SYLVESTER

What if I told You, Mark, that we've got that opportunity right now.

MARK

How?

SYLVESTER

There's Fifty Million Naira cash sitting at the back of the car. Imagine what we could do with it? Both of us; fifty-fifty. We disappear, nobody ever finds us.

MARK

(Astounded)

You know what, Sly, I'm gonna pretend this conversation didn't just happen.

SYLVESTER

Why? Are you saying all these times we've been moving cash around for Chief, it's never crossed your mind? C'mon Mark! You just talked about not liking your job and opportunities. How else do you think opportunity comes? Ah?

MARK

I'm still hoping you're joking, Sly, and that you'd soon stop.

Another round of silence pervades the atmosphere.

SCENE 2

EXT. ROAD - EVENING

Their Toyota Camry XLE is seen in transit among other vehicles.
