DAZE - 2

SCENE 3
INT. 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE. FRONT SEATS - CONTINOUS
It is now getting a bit dark. The duo of Mark and Sylvester are still in transit. Silence still characterize their journey. Sylvester is deep in thought. Mark is focused on the road. As they negotiate a bend, there is a loud explosion. Their car tire is burst.
SYLVESTER
Don't match brake. Don't match the brake.
MARK
Why?
SYLVESTER
I don't know. It's what I always hear people say when there's a tire burst.
MARK
So how do we get the car to stop if I don't match the brake? I still need to step on the brake slightly.
They are able to bring the car to a halt on the empty street they entered.
MARK(CONT'D)
This is the part of driving I hate most: mechanic.

They step out the car. Mark pops the car boot, takes out jack, wheel spanner and an extra tire. He inserts the wheel spanner in the flat tire and starts to turn the nuts.
MARK(CONT'D)
You know, the first times I began driving a car and the car had a flat tire like this - it was also along the road - I brought out everything just like this and started jacking the car. Hoping to change the tires. It was when I'd finish jacking up the car I realized what I'd done wrong. When I tried to lose the nuts with the wheel spanner the tire kept spinning because I'd lifted it off the ground.
SYLVESTER
Oh...
MARK
I realized the tires have to be on the ground when you are losing the nuts and when replacing the nuts.

walks close to a flowery wall, unzips his trousers and begins to pee.
As he pees, he notices the quietness of the neighborhood. His mind begins to concoct a plan. Suddenly, Sylvester can hear Marks mobile phone ring. As Mark picks, Sylvester hurriedly ends his peeing, zips up and walks towards the car.
SYLVESTER
(To Mark who's on phone)
Pop the trunk! Let me take water for my hands!
Mark absentmindedly pushes a button from inside the car and the boot opens mechanically. Sylvester can hear his phone conversation murkily.
Sylvester looks hastily in the boot for a weapon. He finally picks the jack, hides it behind him and approaches Mark from the passenger side without shutting the hood of the boot.

As he steps in the car, Mark finds through his rear view mirror that he had left the boot opened. He motions to Sylvester to go back and shut the boot.

As he returns to his engrossed phone conversation, Sylvester lifts the jack and smacks him in the head repeatedly till Mark passes out. Blood splashes on the screen, dashboard and all over the upholstery.

Sylvester becomes panicky. He steps out the car, looks around if anyone saw him. He rushes to the other side of the car, picks Marks phone and drops his call. Hurriedly opens the back door and picks up the bag of cash on the seat.

As he slams the door and makes to run off the scene, a drunken driver in top speed negotiates the same corner they are and knocks Sylvester down.
A young chap appears the scene from nowhere and watches as the drunken driver speeds off.

He grabs the bag on the ground, unzips it and is amazed the volume of cash in it. As he moves to leave with it, Sylvester manages to grab him by the leg.
 SYLVESTER (CONT'D)
(Gnarls)
Help.
The chap despite-fully kicks off his hand. Sylvester's eyes starts to dim and turn blurry as he watches the young chap run off with the moneybag.
