SCENE 4
EXT. ROADSIDE - DAY
The telephone kiosk is adorned with different
mobile phone operator's brand. Doris is
the only customer making a call at the kiosk. She is at the end of her
telephone conversation.
(Into phone)
...I'll be
expecting the alert. Alright. Bye now.
She drops the call and hands the mobile phone to
the operator. The operator checks the call duration and announces:
PHONE OPERATOR
One minute.
PHONE OPERATOR(CONT'D)
Na wetin
be this? Which kind money be this?
PHONE OPERATOR(CONT'D)
You for no
pay at all. You come make twenty naira call you come dey give me one thousand
naira. Where you want make I see change?
But that's
the only money on me.
PHONE OPERATOR
Why you no
tell me before I give you phone? Na so una dey cause confusion.
He snaffles the One Thousand Naira note from her
and starts strolling the opposite direction.
Where are
you going with my One Thousand?
PHONE OPERATOR
(Uppishly)
I no go go find change?
He hisses and leaves Doris alone
at the kiosk.
Shortly, a local taxi stops in front of her. A
cute looking guy, NUEL AFAMAH , 32, stretches out his head from
the cab window with some naira notes in his hand held out towards Doris .
NUEL
Recharge card two thousand naira.
Sorry, I'm
not the one here. I came to make a call.
NUEL
Oh, I'm really sorry about that.
(Pause)
Where did the person go?
He went to look for change.
(Indicating)
That's him coming.
NUEL
Okay, thanks.
The phone operator arrives and hands Doris her change. Doris collects
it, checks through and leaves.
NUEL
Let me
have recharge card two thousand naira.
PHONE OPERATOR
Which one, sir? Welcome.
NUEL
Airtel.
